My sister and I recently attended a worship night at a friend’s church. We gathered in a simple space with just a couple instruments and a dozen fellow believers. Our time together was brief, but I was struck by the truth that the sweet presence of Jesus was among us.

The One who hears the deafening praise of heaven comes to dwell with His saints gathered in a church basement.

Between song & Scripture, our praise and prayers fill the room.

We’re joining in. Joining in with a chorus of voices that has already begun.

We “sing a new song to Him who sits on heaven’s mercy seat.” A new song that rings throughout eternity past. A new song indeed, for its truth never grows old! It is the song of all the ages, proclaimed continuously by the hosts of heaven and all the  saints:

Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty,

Who was and is and is to come.

Worthy are you, our Lord and God,

To receive glory and honor and power,

For you created all things,

And by your will they existed and were created.

(Revelation 4:8,11)

Heaven’s already begun.

And we have the privilege, the JOY, to join the thunderous praise of heaven.

Revelation 4 paints the scene of heaven’s throne room and the unceasing praises to the King by the elders and living creatures. Even as we hear the words of Scripture spoken, our minds cannot contain such wonder; our imaginations explode as we attempt to picture such beauty. For how can our minds, our imaginations, our hearts, yes, even our voices, contain or express what is gloriously infinite, matchless, and beyond words or description! And still. We believe. We praise with abandon & full devotion. We hold fast to the truths of Scripture. We have tasted and seen the goodness of the Lord. We have experienced the joy of being in His presence. Though these are all mere hints & glimpses, we will declare the praises of our God and King.

For now, we proclaim by faith what the hosts of heaven proclaim by sight!

The voices of heaven ring out constantly. Continually.

Day and night. Night and day.

As we sang this simple refrain, I could not help but rejoice in the reality – the praises of our God are being proclaimed continuously and around the world. While our brothers and sisters on the other side of the globe sleep, we are awake and are invited to raise our voices in praise. Whether it is day or night, worship is being lifted up to the Lord of heaven and earth.

What a glorious thought. What a humbling reality.

He is so worthy of praise & adoration that it. never. stops.

Heaven touches earth as praises, voices rise together. The saints of heaven and the sojourners of earth – our anthem is the same. Together, we proclaim:

To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb

be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!

(Revelation 5:13)

For ever. and ever.

Praising our King who is infinitely and eternally WORTHY OF EVERY PRAISE will never grow old, never be excessive or unnecessary.

So let us join in saints. Heaven’s already begun.
